This is an idea I came up with to help me from wasting water and to make it easier to fill my horses water trough and water buckets. Too many times I would place a water hose in the horse trough and forget about it, just to come back an hour later and see that I had flooded the yard. I tried using sprinkler attachments to time how long the water is turned on. This worked OK, but each faucet seems to have a different flow rate and I found myself guessing at how long it would take to fill each trough. I figured there had to be a better way and this is what I came up with.

This is a very simple project that only uses a few electrical components and some PVC pipe. This is the first project that I have built using an ATTiny 85. It is a very powerful little chip and I will probably have many more projects that use it. An Arduino can be used in place of the ATTiny85 and the same code should work. If you build a lot of simple electronics like I do, then I highly recommend that you check into the ATTiny85. It can save you a lot of time and money.
