This is a video for a wooden dog crate that I built for our new puppy. The Making Stuff site is not a 100% DIY YouTube channel or web site. I have recently had numerous questions about this project and I have placed all of the answers here. If you have any questions, please use the Contact link at the top right of my web page and I will get back to you via email.

I first drew the crate in Sketchup. Sketchup can be downloaded for free. You will have to find the latest download from your favorite search engine. Sketchup drawings for this project are available for download to Maker level patreons. There are a few differences bewtween the video and the drawing. First, the door was placed on the right hand side in the video, but the drawing shows it on the left. Second, the top was cut the same size the bottom in the video. I did this to hide the ugly plywood layers on the top. The only drawback to mounting the top this way is that the pocket holes won't support as much weight. The drawing is the stronger way to make it, please keep this in mnd if you plan on placing anything heavy on top of the crate. A picture frame or two and a lamp should will hold up fine by using the pocket hole technique in the video.

At the time of filming the video, Pet Smart sold a dog bed that was 36 x 26. The cost was $49, but it was frequently on sale for $39.

Will you make one for me? Can I purchase one? The answer is yes, but you will have to contact me via the Contact button in the upper right corner of my web page. These are too big to ship fully assembled, but I have made some for other people and we have always found some way to make it work.

Here is a list of all the wood pieces. You will have to refer to the Sketchup drawing if you require any further detail. The measurements below are the same as what was used in the video.

All board thicknesses are 3/4".
